Temporary escape routes Main house

Haus & Hof has installed a temporary escape route from the hall to complement the escape route via the stairwell:

Please be aware of this. Another escape route via the Achterstall is planned.

Renovation of the clubhouse: Feasibility study commissioned

The course was set for the upcoming renovation of the main building. Our ‘substance team’, led by Martina Günther and Elisabeth Krön, has carried out the preparatory work for commissioning an architectural firm. Together with the board of directors, the renowned architectural firm Sünder-Plassmann was selected by three applicants (e.g. Federal Environmental Award & Building, Monument Protection Medal, Building in Existence Award). Among other things, they have planned the renovation of Feldafing station, Villa Knorr and the Garmisch-Partenkirchen ski stadium (SÜNDER-PLASSMANN Architects City Planner BDA Utting).

In a so-called feasibility study, the architectural office will now find out what is necessary for the renovation of our clubhouse, what is possible and what cost range is expected to come to us. Various building plans and conversion plans since 1884 serve as a basis and great help, the last one was created under the leadership of Tilman Probst. Currently, the architectural firm Sünder-Plassmann is exploring the limits of monument protection on the one hand, and the additional degrees of freedom and possibilities it offers on the other. In addition, it is about generating funding and getting new opportunities for the club with a skilful argument. Our goal is to be able to present the results to you at the next Annual General Meeting on 22.03.2025.

Members are also required to plan. In the coming months, we want to address you in various formats and hear your opinions.

We are currently planning to set up an energy team for the renovation, which will develop measures to further save energy and CO₂. If you have expertise in this field and would like to work with us, you are cordially invited to stefanie.monecke@mrc1880.de, keyword energy, to report.

lockers men's changing rooms

For about a year we have been trying to keep some order in the lockers in the men's locker room. Despite several calls and various cover letters, we were unable to locate the users of some lockers. It can be assumed that the lockers will no longer be used.
In addition, there may have been some movement that has passed the board. Please always register your new locker with Birgit and Stefanie when you clear your locker.

This is the last call to the users of the lockers: Please contact us if you use the lockers on the 1st floor Nos 8, 10, 12, 18, 20, 31, 34, 35, 38, 41, 45, 47, 53, 54, 57, 58 or 60 or on the 2nd floor Nos 118 – 120 and 122 – 124 (these are the ones at the window). These lockers, as well as all those that are not clearly marked with first and last names, will be opened and emptied by us after 30.11.24.

energy

Our new balance sheet shows that you can save a lot of energy and electricity with careful handling. We already reported at the Annual General Meeting in March 2024 that we were able to reduce our electricity consumption by approximately 12,000 kWh/a (approximately 3 tonnes of CO₂/a).

In terms of gas consumption, we were able to save an additional 11,000 kWh/a (2.2 tonnes of CO2/a). Expressed in euro: a repayment of €5,700 for electricity and €2,600 for gas. There was no significant loss of comfort.

A heartfelt thank you to our environmentally conscious team Reinhard Niejodek, Jochen Leiffer, Michael Zink and Andreas Neuer! With a sum of small measures, they have achieved this goal.

Rose Island regatta 2024: A retrospective

In the last newsletter, the error devil crept in. The boat with Samantha Seymour does not have the 2nd, but the 1st on the Rose Island Regatta. Fight for a place.

The MRSV has made a film about their anniversary Rose Island regatta. You can access it via the homepage:

The MRSV is still collecting donations for the completion or completion of the film! More information can be found on the homepage under the above link.

Training camp in Verceia – everyone learns about it

22 eager-to-learn MRC1880 rowers spent an interesting training week in early October 2024 in Verceia, north of Lake Como. Rowing was done in two and four speedboats on the Lago di Mezzola on a perfect 2000m track.
The boats could be stored at the very hospitable Italian rowing club.
With Tom Thallmair we had an incredibly experienced rowing trainer who carried out daily video analyses of all boats and occupants. In good weather we went on the rowing track or on the last day over the waterway to Lake Como; in adverse conditions on the ergo or on the rigger technology. You could end the afternoon at the kiosk with a lake view right next to the rowing club and with gymnastics and yoga in the hotel, followed by a nice Italian dinner.
Whether decades of rowing experience or rather newcomers, everyone has learned a lot. Not only was there a lot of training, but also a lot of laughter!
Thanks to Tom for his well-founded and humorous training, Harald for the hanging rides over the passes, Audrey and Hansjörg for the organization and Elisabeth for the yoga lessons.
We would do it again anytime!

Wandering rudders: Rhine cruise report

Over the year, several MRClers were again on a hiking trip with the rowing friends of the MRSV. Here is a report about a tour on the Rhine in October:

Bird protection and safety

Be sure to follow the winter driving regulations and the MRC1880 safety instructions.

Please keep in mind the protection of birds. Read an article about bird protection at Lake Starnberg, in which rowing athletes are praised in particular:

Who can test their knowledge? Then try the quiz for helmsmen and overseers (based on questions from the tax and overseer examination of the German Rowing Association):
