Newsletter March (1) 2026

Dear MRCler,
Dear rowing friends,

Spring comes and invites you to many activities!

With the rowing we start into a sporty as well as work-related intensive season, which challenges our team spirit and sense of community. The reward is a lot of fun as well as being part of the success and the club family. Let's go!

Spring cleaning on 23.3.2026

Because of the early Easter, this year's spring cleaning will already take place on Saturday, March 21.

The clearing and plastering work is also related to the upcoming refurbishment measures: For each 2 areas we need motivated helpers:

Part 1: Routine program water / women's house / terrain.

  • Start is 11:30 a.m.: Please arrive on time so that the arrangement works well. Saturday rowers should also be back at the pier by 10:30 a.m. at the latest.
  • Official end is 4:00 p.m.
  • Please bring some cleaning utensils.

Part 2: Relocation of furniture etc. from the HH to Oberschleißheim.

  • Start is 9:00 a.m.: We are looking for about 20 volunteers who are ready to start earlier and accompany the transport to OSH.
  • Volunteers please contact Rolf: rolf.schuh1@googlemail.com.
  • The action is estimated to last until 18:00.
  • Hangers are available. You are welcome to bring cordless screwdrivers etc.

Around 1 p.m., the MRC invites all helpers to a lunch prepared by Katrin and served by the club service – thank you very much at this point!

In this context, we would like to point out that the MRC will call for special actions even more often during the upcoming remediation measures. For example, in July/August the shingles are to be removed from the facade on their own, at some point an emergency changing room for the gentlemen must be set up, and the boats must also be moved. Of course, we will announce such actions in good time.

Club services 2026

Club members have already been informed of their service allocation. What is new is that the chief of the service prints out the service list sent to him, on the Saturday bring along, Hanging on the pinboard in the main house and sign it.

What are the interesting tasks of the Sunday service (‘rowing service’)? It is more about providing social assistance internally (assistance for members) and externally (e.g. welcoming guests).

The rowing service makes it possible to offer a rowing meeting on Sundays between 10:00 and 12:00 for members without a fixed team and, if necessary, with little rowing experience. The officers help the participants with the classification and preparation, or accompany them as a helmsman on the lake.

The respective rowing service is registered in the Crewman at the beginning of the week with the title ‘10.00 Open rowing - with XY’. In addition, an entry at 10 a.m. in the ‘calendar’ will be made.

If you cannot come to the service, please look for a replacement in good time (exchange on the internal homepage).

If you do not manage to complete your service in the season, you will be asked to pay 250 €.

Club life

Rowing and boat baptism on 22.3.2026

Traditionally, rowing with boat baptism takes place on the day after the spring cleaning, this year on Sunday the 22nd of March.

The program looks in broad terms as follows:

  • 10:00: We meet ready for rowing on the premises
  • Boat layout and rowing
  • From about 1:00 p.m.: Lunch together
  • Boat baptism and, if applicable, honours

For lunch, the following information:

  • We provide grilled food, bread and drinks
  • For salads, desserts, cakes, etc., we are happy to invite the members to a bring-in event. If you feel addressed here, please let Dorothea know, who can intervene in a coordinating way if necessary: dorothea _fontaine@yahoo.de
  • A flat rate of 8 € is charged for the meal, drinks are to be paid separately.

Karen offers the remaining stock of the club clothing for sale again when rowing.

The history team offers some treasures and surprises from the attic, which can be purchased during spring cleaning from 14:00 and during rowing for a donation.

The whole Sunday program offers a great opportunity to enjoy rowing, enjoy club life and awaken spring feelings. Please come in large numbers and bring a good mood!

Other benefit events: Public Viewing and Flea Market

‘Behringer and the Dead’ in the RTL

For the broadcast of the Behringer Krimis on 10.3. at RTL, a public viewing with popcorn and drinks took place in the MRC.  Around 40 members followed the crime novel, which showed beautiful perspectives on our boathouse. Around 255 euros were donated that evening and benefit from the refurbishment.

Sun is shining, spring is coming – flea market time!

On 16 May from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are planning a flea market on the grounds of our club (replacement date in case of rain 13.6.26). We would like to open the site to visitors and walkers and are happy if as many of you as possible participate and sell.

That's why every time in your houses, apartments and cellars, also those of parents and grandparents search for beautiful things.

If you do not want to open your own table, you can also hand over individual (!), special pieces that we collect and offer at a common table.

It is sure to be a beautiful and fun event where everyone, regardless of age and budget, can help advance the Clubhouse Renovation project: All proceeds go to the clubhouse. Please contact us if you want to help us plan better. For the organization, we are also looking for people who support us, also from the youth. We look forward to seeing you and the common idea!

We need you for a new challenge: Rowing newcomers for the benefit regatta ‘Rudern gegen Krebs’ on 26 July 2026 training!

The best thing about it? Not only will you help beginners learn the right technique and get them excited about rowing, but you will also support them with your commitment. Fight against cancer!

What you should bring:

  • Sufficient experience in rowing – you should have already spent a few years in the rowing boat so that the beginners can benefit from your know-how.
  • Motivation to help others – you are motivated to give beginners the opportunity to start rowing. The whole thing is voluntary, but don't worry, we won't let you go completely empty: Each training session (90 minutes each) is remunerated with 20 €!
  • Time for 4 training sessions of 90 minutes each (more inclined) during the period from Easter to the end of July on the Olympic regatta track in Oberschleißheim for rowing newcomers. Of course, we coordinate the exact times with you and the beginners.

Every support counts! Together, you can help ensure that rowing against cancer can once again take place in Munich this year!

If you want to be there, just write to us at the latest 20 March
