Much done in the spring cleaning 2026
On the spring cleaning day, numerous volunteers made the ladies' house, the boats and the outdoor facilities flow again. Kathrin Falke-Schmidt and Claudia Kühlein took care of the physical well-being together with the club service team around Christiane Kutsch.
This time the spring cleaning was something like the start of the renovation work. Furniture from the previous board room in the 1. The upper floor of the clubhouse was taken to a storage room on the OSH regatta track to create space for an interim men's dressing room. This will now be set up as a replacement for the decommissioned DG changing room. Many thanks to all furniture packers and trailer drivers!
The history team was also active on both days and exhibited treasures and found objects from the attic and offered them for sale. Of course, the art-historically valuable paintings and objects were not there. The intention was to learn more about the objects and photos that had landed in the attic over the decades. What was considered valuable by members migrated back to the attic, the rest was sold in favor of the refurbishment fund, covered for the upcoming flea market (see below) or disposed of to make room.
The action has also clearly shown that we lack an archivist. In the attic dust, among other things, beautiful photos of MRC players in the national jersey. And it is not clear who is to be seen on it. The history team would therefore be very happy if someone took on these pictures as well as the club's history of the last 25 years, cataloged, digitized and labeled them. Especially in view of the upcoming 150th anniversary in 2030. If you are interested, please contact Stefanie (stefanie.monecke@mrc1880.de).
Rolf Schuh and Klaus Flügel have implemented the last remaining fire protection pad according to a design by Anja Eckert: The space for the rescue kits with the light rockets was moved outside the boathouse. The sets are now under the canopy between the old and the new boat hall (see picture). In this context, it should be remembered that no combustible materials such as barbecue lighters and torches may be stored in the clubhouse. Several litres of barbecue lighters and several torches had accumulated again, which were disposed of during spring cleaning.
There is good news for our clubhouse: In the latest issue of its magazine ‘Monumente’, the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz promotes projects funded in 2026 for: Donations for our clubhouse. There are a few copies in the clubhouse.

Organization in the ladies' house
Club members have already been informed of their service allocation. What is new is that the boss of the service We want to offer all ladies and girls in the club a pleasant and clean environment. For this we have to consider each other. In the common washrooms, it is not intended to hang towels for weeks or to leave several pairs of shoes lying around in the changing room.
The hooks in the anteroom of the showers are only used to hang towels and wet bathing clothes during the shower. For drying, the items can be hung on the drying racks behind the DH and in the medical room or taken home.
Towels and bathing suits that hitherto hung on the hooks now lie with the hair dryer. Please take these up on 30.4.2026 Get out of there. What remains goes to the lost items and later to the donation of clothes. The same applies to the shoes in the buckets when blow-drying. These have been clearly visible since autumn. Please take her home. Thank you very much!
