MRC1880 successful in Men’s Ergo Challenge 2025

After many men in January, while the Women’s Rowing Challenge was taking place, asked if they could also participate in the Ergo Challenge, a wish came true in November: For the first time, there was a dedicated challenge for male rowers, similar to the successful Women’s Rowing Challenge. 8 min, 15 min, 22 min and 30 min were rowed and the rowed kilometers of all participants were added.

The men of the MRC were strong. A total of 48 athletes took part, and the club reached 10th place out of 57 clubs with 565 rowed kilometers (the number 1 completed 1206 km).

Here are some statistics:

  • In the age group U18 there were eight participants. The first place in the club went to Friedrich Arlt with 17,331 meters; Nationwide, the MRC is ranked 21st out of 37.
  • In the age group U30 there were two participants. The number 1 in the club was Kaspar Virnekäs with 19,599 meters; Nationwide, the MRC has become 40th out of 51;
  • In the age group 30 there were five participants. First place in the club went to Christian Vaas with 19,339 meters; Nationwide, the MRC has become 29th out of 54.
  • There were 14 participants in the age group Ü45. 1st place was rowed by Uwe Kondziella with 18462 meters; Nationwide, the MRC ranked 5th out of 65.
  • And last but not least, the MRC showed its true talent in the age group ü60: Of the 19 participants, Bernhard Virnekäs achieved first place at 19,469 metres. Nationwide, our association is on PLACE 1 of 57!!!

Congratulations to all our men for this brilliant achievement! Even more important, however, is the performance of the entire association and the contribution of each individual!
