Announcement of the Honorary Council: We need our volunteers!

“The Board is complete again”.
Big THANK YOU to the retired board members!

The work of volunteer members is of great importance to the MRC. The Honorary Council therefore welcomes the fact that the Executive Board is again complete and thus capable of working. Three new board members: Birgit Hassler (administration), Frank Salzmann (sports) and Stefan Spindler (finance) were appointed in accordance with our statutes.

This decision ensures the smooth continuation of the association's work until the next Annual General Meeting in spring 2025. At this general meeting, there is an opportunity to confirm the new members of the Board of Management for the current financial year. We are confident that everyone will perform their duties with prudence, competence and in the spirit of the association – and we would like to express our thanks for this readiness!

The regular re-election of the Board of Management is then scheduled on a regular basis for the financial years 2026/27/28.

Since it is not a matter of course to take over an honorary position – combined with work and responsibility for the association – we would like to thank the retired board members Konstanze Steinheimer-Breitkreutz, Ulf Hallmann and Lucas Artmann for their commitment and valuable contribution to the well-being of the association as an honorary council representing all club members. Their work has contributed to the development and success of the rowing club.

Konstanze has ensured a well-functioning administration and placed even more emphasis on communication in the MRC. She remains engaged as a Communication Advisory Board member.

Ulf has revived the sports committee and not only designed a concept for coaching, but also launched it to improve the safety of every rower. Further, hand in hand with the trainers, the junior and competitive sports further promoted.

Lucas has continued the good financial management and ensured that the finances of the club allow a good execution of our rowing sport.

Review Summer Festival 2024

This year's summer festival started on 6 July in a sunny mood. With great commitment, zealous members have once again created a beautiful and lively celebration. Many other helpers provided the best food with cakes and salads and a smooth running in the kitchen and at the bar.
Still hoping that the announced thunderstorm would pass, Uli welcomed those present, especially the strongly represented youth group, which had only two weeks ago achieved beautiful results at the German Youth Championship in Essen, especially the silver medal in the Junior B-Eight.

Unfortunately, due to thunderstorms, the long-established ‘association championship’ was cancelled in drawn four-man crews. The teams were already named, the teams named ‘Frisch’, ‘Fromm’, ‘Fröhlich’ and ‘Frei’ were already divided and almost at the start, when the 90s storm warning put a dash through the plan. It's a pity, but we'll catch up!

Andi Fischbach and his training group quickly heated up the grill and professionally conjured up hearty delicacies on the buffet. That was great, Andi! Many thanks to all the youthful helpers who did not let the onset of rain spoil their mood and kept the grill under control. Together with a rich offer of contributed salads and food, we really enjoyed our culinary delights. Many thanks to all who contributed to this. Barrel beer, Aperol Spritz and other cocktails kept the throats moist.

New beer garden tables were named by name and invited, depending on the self-assessment, to choose a place: Overcrowded were e.g. the Gigan table and the Optimis table, others felt comfortable at the Phantas table, and also the Chao table and the Hek table were well occupied.

All in all, there was a cheerful mood, which was hardly affected by the rain. Pergola and the roof between the boat halls provided shelter from moisture, and later the sky and the location relaxed more and more. To a new one at the next party!

MRC1880-Wanderfahrt Regensburg: Come with me!

There are still places available on the MRC1880 hike in September

From house & Courtyard

Stefan Holz and Johannes Sebald ventured onto our roof, patched some leaks and dismantled the no longer used stainless steel chimney. Thank you very much for your commitment!

… and swallow nests
We are pleased that the Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz (LVB) wants to award the MRC1880 for its long-standing commitment to swallow conservation and awarded us the plaque ‘Schwalbenfriendlys Haus’ on Tuesday.

New homepage: With the participation of members

For members who would like to post on the new homepage, a training will take place again on 24.7. at 19:00 at the MRC in Starnberg.

Anyone who would like to be trained on the homepage is cordially invited! Please report to Constance in advance.

Documentation in ARTE

ARTE has created a rudder documentation and also used images from the archive of the MRC1880.

Thanks to Ulrike Mertz for all her work in the archive!

The documentation will be on 25.7. at 20:15 broadcast.

The MRC1880 should also be mentioned in the credits – take a close look!

If someone can make a recording for the archive (and for a possible public viewing), please report to Konstanze.

Uninvited guest: Havarierts sailboat

Recently a sailboat broke loose in the storm and wanted to come to us at the jetty! Thanks to Samantha and all those who bravely intervened and made it possible for the boat to be secured by the water watch. So the boat and jetty remained unharmed!

Question from Obleute training

It is about general rules of passage on the water under small vehicles.

When small vehicles meet, the following statement applies:
A) Motor power before wind power before muscle power
B) Wind power before muscle power before motor power
C) Muscle power before motor power before wind power

That's right: B (Sailors have right of way. But remember: Even the steamer has right of way, and motorboats don't always know who has right of way, so be careful!)
