Dear MRCler,
Dear rowing friends

And please be careful when the following events take place on the lake:
- On Friday, July 3rd, the MRSV-Vereinsmeisterschaft will take place from about 4 pm. The race track from the Roth-Villa to the MRSV-Seglersteg is against our travel regulations – Please be very careful!
- Also on July 12, caution should be exercised when a major swimming event takes place on the lake. The swimmers start at 11:00 am at the Seehotel Leoni and cross the lake to La Villa in Niederpöcking/Possenhofen.

It was a regatta of extremes. Due to the predicted heat, the races were reduced to the international regulations: In the end, the B-finals were cancelled and the race distances were shortened to 4 minutes in order to finish the competitions before the afternoon heat.
In addition, the regatta, which was organized by the Essen Rowing Regatta Club, could not take place on Lake Baldeney due to an algae spreading in the lake. A few weeks earlier, an alternative had to be found. The Krefelds helped out in the short term. For our coaching team an additional orga challenge, because new accommodations had to be found nearby. At start times from 8.00 o'clock in the morning an important building block to success!
Our MRC/MRSV training group also participated with their first start at the DJM:
- Felix Schröder (MRC)
- Friedrich Arlt (MRC)
- Felicia Schubert (MRSV)
- Freia Kirrmeier (MRSV)
Here, too, our young rowers brought special achievements, even if they did not make it to the podium this time.
Our youth were supervised by the coaching team with Andi Fischbach, David Martirosyan, Lukas Schübel, Moritz Weighart, Valery Hauck and Elias Krauthause.
We congratulate all participants on their great successes and the courage to show top performance even under extreme conditions. A big thank you to the coaching team and all the helping hands.
From the MRC1880, Emma Bartelmess, Pia Hagel and Wilhelm Arlt were nominated for the team formation for the Junior World Championship and Coupe de la Jeunesse. Congratulations!

SEPA direct debit mandates and surcharge vs. donation for our clubhouse renovation
Please remember to fill out the new SEPA form and return it to Birgit (birgit.hassler@mrc1880.de). On 06.06.2026, you should ask us to renew the SEPA direct debit mandates and send them back to us, has raised some questions that we would like to answer here:
Questions:
- Can I donate a contribution instead of paying the surcharge?
- When will the levy be collected?
- Why are we now asking for the SEPA Direct Debit mandates to be updated?
Replies:
- It is not possible to pay a donation instead of a surcharge. The general characteristic of a surcharge is that it is decided by the general meeting and applies to all members. A donation, on the other hand, is always completely voluntary. In our case, in October 2025, the General Assembly decided on a surcharge (for full members up to 3 x 500 €) to cover the expenses for the clubhouse renovation. The levy is distributed over 3 years.
- If we have all the funding notices, the start of construction has been determined and so that the specific temporal financial requirements are clearer, we will inform you by newsletter at the latest 14 days before the collection about the amount, due date and collection date. From this point of view, we are planning to start construction in September and will move in the first tranche in October of this year.
- We now ask you to return the direct debit mandates, because we want to be prepared and need security that we can cover the cash requirements after construction begins.
If you have not yet sent the direct debit mandate, please do so immediately!
You will find the SEPA mandate here, and about this link You can send it back.
Thank you very much for your cooperation and support in this important project.
Many greetings

Heat and samba and much more on the kilometre day

This year's kilometre day on June 20 took place in the best weather. The band Drumadama even drummed with XL set and heated up neatly.
Claudia and Bernd conjured up a delicious paella, Theda started with the yoga class, in the boathouse the preview of a documentary by Bayerischer Rundfunk about our club was shown, and on the lake a course with caper exercises took place.
Last year's winners were presented with the 2025 Kilometre Day Cup. This year, a total of 1,246 rowing kilometers came together on 29 trips. Winners of the Kilometre Day Cup were once again Stefan Heuer and Thomas Volckmann with 32 km each.
The winner of the best estimate was Sebastian Freitag, followed by Stefan Heuer, Thomas Volckmann and Uta Clausen in 2-4 places.

Oden on rowing and coaching luck in RUDERSPORT
Three MRC members report to the rowing July issue to speak. Dr. Jörg Roth, psychotherapist, formulates four happiness factors in a poignant ode. With this he frames an article by Wolfgang Goede, how rowing promotes mental health, the comprehensive physical-mental-mental health.
Luisa Gärtner highlights the profession of rowing coaches: Often underestimated, they play on a complex keyboard of communication, analysis, leadership. This makes them much more than a technology broker: They shape athletes and are among the central designers of rowing.

Donations
Clear the way – our common course towards the future
Your donation – small or large – brings us closer to the goal of renovating our beautiful, venerable boathouse. Every contribution counts. Each euro shows: We are pulling together – as if in a boat. For our planning, we assume that each member contributes an average of €1,000 – also in partial amounts or staggered over the entire construction period. This is how we manage to get our century project on track together.
Donations will, of course, Donation receipts issued. You're there right now? Then let's go!
So that you know exactly where your money is going, we offer you two possibilities to bring your donation directly to the water:
Our recommendation: Donation to the German Foundation for the Protection of Monuments (DSD)
Why? Donations to the DSD benefit our MRC boathouse: and the best: Every euro donated is doubled by a generous sponsor! Therefore, this is our preferred path.

- IBAN: DE71 500 400 500 400 500 400

Alternative: Direct donation to the MRC
