Dear rowing friends,
We wish all members, friends and their families a happy new year and always a hand-width of water under the keel.
In this first edition of the year, we welcome you in a new, modern layout and introduce our new newsletter format.
In the future, our newsletters will be divided into fixed categories, in line with our motto ‘ Rowing – Together – Experience’, in the following areas:
- sports (e.g. regattas, hiking trips, etc.),
- Clubhouse (everything about infrastructure, e.g. refurbishment, house & yard, boat park) and
- Club life (events, etc.).
In addition, we will point out open positions in the MRC1880 (requested) and dates.
In the meantime, as every year, the password of our internal homepage has been changed. As always, you'll find it on the blackboard.
Today we look back on the traditional New Year's Eve event in the MRC, write out hiking trips for 2026, report on clubhouse and renovation and on the possibility to buy club clothes (sale on 24.1.2026 in the MRC, then only order online).

Women’s Rowing Challenge
The Women’s Rowing Challenge organised by DRV and Concept2 is now running for the second week and we from the MRC are back. We entered strongly with over 50 ergo riders, and were 24th out of 204 participating clubs after the first week. A great start!

News from Haus & Hof
There was a change in the management of the Herrenspinde. Michael Zink will now manage her in a team with Dietrich Falke. If you need a locker or want to cancel one, please contact Michael at the usual email address herren-spinde@mrc1880.de. However, the number of available lockers has halved due to the upcoming renovation work, as the lockers in the attic are no longer awarded.
Planning of refurbishment
Planning is in full swing. Design and approval planning is almost complete. In addition, the first grant decision has been received for funding of €42,000 for energy-efficient renovation.
Logistical planning has begun internally. As things stand, the implementation phase could start in July with the erection of the scaffolding.
You can look forward to new, more detailed plans, which will soon be on the homepage and in the clubhouse.

Order clubwear online now and sell it on 24.1. in the MRC
From now on, our Mizuno clubwear is available directly from our supplier

Payment is made directly to ROWSAX. In order to optimise product and shipping costs, orders are collected and are expected to be delivered to the MRC twice a year.
Our warehouse must be cleared before the conversion. Remaining stocks and some samples that will no longer be available in the future will be sold at 2025 prices until the end of January, while stocks last:

Review New Year's Eve rowing with white sausage breakfast
The traditional New Year's Eve rowing with white sausage breakfast took place in the freezing cold and fantastic sunshine.
Ring found
The ring recently found by Dietrich (we reported, see picture) is now stored in the board room.

Wanted
Event manager
We are looking for someone who plans individual events (e.g. rowing on and off, mileage day, summer party, advent party) and coordinates the helpers (e.g. from the club service) in the preparation and implementation. The event manager is supported by experienced members.
