Holiday children's course Oberschleißheim

In the autumn holidays (from 30.10. – 2.11.24) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the last children's rowing course for this year will take place at the regatta facility in Oberschleißheim.

There are still places available!

So if you still know children who want to try rowing for a long time, this would be an excellent opportunity. The course costs 130 euros including meals.

Please also advertise (e.g. Schools in Würmtal).

Registrations until 5.10. to andreas.fischbach@mrc1880.de .

Ride into the Blue on October 3

The ride even made it to the RUDERSPORT 09-2024 (see poster on the black board in the clubhouse).

Most people know the game now: The meeting point is announced in time in the morning, and then it goes somewhere, there is rowing, this time about 20 km. And there is still a sociable ending, gladly also with our hosts, from whom we borrow boats. The date of return on 3 October is therefore expressly open.

If you would like to be part of it, you can now register by e-mail. The registration deadline is this Friday, 27.9.2024.

Come and be surprised!

Your Wanderruderwart Hellmuth Nordwig

Think about your safety vests!

The safety training with the water guards was successfully carried out at the beginning of September. It will happen more often in the future.

The cold season is coming, and with it the need to go on the water with a safety vest. So remember that you should check your safety vests in time and, if necessary, have them waiting before you have to use them from 1 November.

Theory of the Board of Directors Training: new training date on 12 October

The training for prospective supervisors is part of the supervisor training and should be attended by all active members as far as possible.

Ulf offers another appointment: 12 October at 2 p.m.

Please register at ulf.hallmann@mrc1880.de. We will announce the place in good time.

Save the date: Autumn plaster

On Saturday the 26th of October is our autumn cleaning again. With united forces, we make houses and terrain winter-proof and swing dusters and cleaning cloths. ´s starts at 10:00 a.m.

It is a good opportunity to meet old acquaintances and meet new faces. Each member should participate in at least one of our cleaning days (spring or autumn cleaning).

New date for the new member event

Since the new member event unfortunately had to be cancelled due to bad weather, we have found a new date. We will combine the event with the routing. So please write it 27 October into the calendar!

Visit of the Seta rowers at the MRC

Shinji-San from our partner club in Kawasaki had asked us to take care of his 9 friends from Seta-RC. They were on their way to the Masters Regatta in Brandenburg and then on a tour of Germany.

On September 18th we met the cheerful troupe in the MRC1880. Some of our Japanese riders had even taken time off, and Stefan Spindler welcomed the guests. The weather was sunny, although windy.

After a short consultation with the guests, our three fives were let to the water. The Seta-RC rows on Lake Biwako near Kyoto, the largest lake in Japan with 670 km ² (compared to Lake Constance 536 km ²), so they are familiar with wind and waves. Everything voted: The three boats, each with three Japanese and two of our rowers, made their way to the east bank, rowed to the King Ludwig Monument and arrived safely back at the jetty.

Finally, we sat on our terrace for a while, where the guests handed us a lot of Omiyage (bring-aways), some of which, like the pearly sake with gold flakes, were immediately tasted.

We should cultivate this new friendship. The Biwako is a beautiful area, so we should definitely make a rowing stop!

Michael Zink

Masters successful at Lake Wörthersee

While Vienna sank in the snow, the MRC 1880 won the trophy for the fastest Gig 8er UND Männer Masters (1:15 h for 16 km) in dry weather. Congratulations!

DRV-Wanderrudertreffen in Regensburg

Last weekend was the DRV-Wanderrudertreffen in Regensburg. A small group of MRCler was there and enjoyed the exit, either through the Danube breakthrough or on the Naab, as well as the great hospitality of the two Regensburg clubs very much.

Next year the DRV-Wanderrudertreffen will take place in Berlin, maybe this time with more participation of the MRC1880? Remember this: 12.-14.9.2025.

Women's rowing: Liberation from the corset

In addition to 90 years of female rowing in the MRC:

For three centuries, the corset had forced women into emphasizing female forms and better marriage chances. Sport for women was unthinkable. Only in the middle of the 19th In the 18th century, the fashion habits relaxed, against medical advice that "the uterus could fall out", and women conquered the sports disciplines, including rowing, peu á peu.

Very exciting and insightful to hear and listen to in the Bayern2 Media library (external link).

And rudder-philosophical at the end, snapped up in the locker room:

Descartes’ ‘Cogito ergo sum’ – ‘I think, therefore I am’ is a great Western philosophical wisdom.

‘I'm rowing, so I am’, a MRCler put it in an unbridled rowing mood: ‘Remigo ergo sum’.

The applause proved him right. From antiquity to modern times, rowing has shaped our civilization. As a means of discovery, trade, cultural exchange. In rowing, this proud history lives on.

But: ‘ Rowing is not everything!’, another interjected and appealed for a balanced ‘Rowing Life Balance’.
