Dear MRCler,
Dear rowing friends,
After our very well-attended rowing event, we start the new rowing season at full steam! Here you can find news about the training dates for adults, the currently valid driving regulations, a planned safety training, and the training for supervisors. The rowing event on Ascension Day is also scheduled.
In addition, at the end of April, the revised crewman Version online, there are news from the area of club communication, from the kitchen, house & farm and last but not least a hint of cultural nature.
Please also see where you can get involved so that our club life can continue to run smoothly.
The minutes of the Annual General Meeting 2024 can be found in the internal section of the homepage.
Unfortunately, the terrace has not survived the winter well and is very rotten. Board and house and farm team are working on a solution. Please enjoy your coffee under the trees.
And be careful, in the truest sense of the word, the water is still very cold!
Your board of directors

Training is everything: Fixed rowing dates for adults
This year, too, a large group of ambitious grassroots athletes took part in the Inn River Race in Passau. In addition to a lot of fun, there were also victories: The ‘Men 2’ from the Saturday training group in Penzberg and the Ennes team (Ü75) in Otto Weiss each won their races.
Here you will find the regular rowing appointments for adults.
Driving regulations and safety training
After the end of the Ramsar period, it is now possible to drive east again.
Please observe the driving regulations and drive out to the east of the bay to avoid collisions: Fare regulations East
Save the date: Safety training
Probably so. For the first time since 2019, a safety training with DLRG and Wasserwacht will take place on 7 July. For the preliminary needs assessment, please log in to the Doodle: https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/azx759yd
An invitation with binding registration follows.

Obleute training: Who would have known?
In the MRC 1880, the training of commissioners began: Kick-off to the Obleuteschulung
In order to consolidate relevant knowledge of all MRClers, a question is now asked in the newsletter, which can occur in the Obleute exam.
Here is a first question from the DRV questionnaire:
In the car, the main person in charge is always the person behind the wheel, in the rowing boat always the
A) helmsman/woman,
b) Oldest on board,
C) boat owner/woman,
D) batsman/woman,
E) Bugman/woman.
Answer: C) Boat owner/woman
(Commands usually give the helmsmen, but also the overseers. Their orders take precedence, they are ‘boss’ in the boat.)
Rowing on Ascension Day
Also this year the traditional rowing trip with picnic will take place on Ascension Day. Although our tradition began with Father's Day celebrations, of course we cordially invite all MRC members, regardless of gender.
Meeting point is on Thursday, the 09.05.2024 at 11.00 am MRC; Organization and organization on site by Guido Gilbert.
Plan A is to load food into the boats, row to a suitable landing place and organize a picnic there. Let's see if the weather plays along this year, otherwise we move the picnic to the terrace after rowing.
From the kitchen come beer, drinks, pretzels and liver cheese for 10 EUR per person.
Please by Wednesday, the 03.05.2024, under himmelfahrtstag@mrc1880.de Register bindingly, then the purchase begins. (Payment by banknote on site to Guido)
Crewman
On the weekend of April 26th/27th, a new version of the Crewman with improved functionality and handling online.
Here you will find a short guide: Getting started with the new ‘crewman’ version
News from the Communication Team: Club magazine and homepage
We received a lot of positive feedback on the club magazine, according to Thomas Kosinski, sports journalist and long-time editor-in-chief of rowing/DRV, today editor of Rudersonderheften: “Yesterday I received the new “Riemen & Skull” - thank you very much. I get some club magazines and have to say that yours is one of the well-done and informative …’.
Our homepage is slowly getting older! In order to be able to operate these professionally, intensive efforts are underway. We are still looking for supporters for the homepage team! If there is a web designer in the club (experiences in WordPress would be great but not a must), please contact Constance report.
Kitchen at MRC1880
After more than 2 years of great commitment, the Bistro closes in 1880 and makes room for new ideas and younger people.
Julia and Reinhard organised several bistro events and created the motto ‘Essen Together Experience’. Thanks to them, Markus Reitner managed to switch from professional gastronomy on weekends to voluntary club operations at a cost price.
Many thanks to Julia and Reinhard!
We are now looking for successors, the
- keep the kitchen in order and take care of it, as well as organize the shopping for the normal daily service,
- occasionally spoil the club with something more unusual than butter and pretzels, and/or
- Want to get involved in events in the kitchen?
We are also urgently looking for event managers to take part in the many events this year, whether alone or in a team. Lots of contacts and fun are guaranteed!
Please contact Uli or Stefanie at Board report.
New valuables locker and tool for house and yard
In the men's dressing room (1. OG) is now finally the new valuables spind! The coin locks work like in the swimming pool: Simply insert a 1€ coin into the slot, lock it and remove the key. Unlock accordingly with the key and remove the coin.
The valuables locker is not intended for permanent use. Should a door remain locked overnight, the board reserves the right to clear the compartment.
If you want a permanent locker in the men's locker room, please contact Dietrich Falke. Also in case of key loss please contact Dietrich Falke (for the ladies Renate Blodig is the contact person).
Tool wanted:
The house and yard team would like to refresh their tool inventory.
Do you have tools left, such as a drill, cordless screwdriver or even a simple tool box or screw box?
Then there are two options:
- Either you contact me here, Then we can make a decision in advance.
- Or you just bring it with you and put it in the 1880 shed a ready box. If we do not need anything from the tool deposited there, we will dispose of it, i.e. it is in any case lost to you.
Thank you very much!

Mysteries: Where is the missing rower sculpture?
Our history team has noticed that a small sculpture is missing, which has historical value for the MRC 1880. It is a small rower, which was handed over to Caspar Braun in 1899 as a tribute. This was our chairman between 1891 and 1899.
Until recently, the figure stood in the closed display case in the hallway, near the front corner. Many people remember them and their location.
If you can say something about the whereabouts of the figure, please contact Stefanie (keyword ‘rowers’). An anonymous return is also possible. Simply enclose it in a compartment of the valuables locker, put the key in an envelope and drop it into our MRC mailbox on the roller door.
It would be nice if the rower would find his way back to the MRC, as many people miss him.

OMG
OMG is not Oh my god, but Oskar Maria Graf. Last but not least, since we have a boat of this name, we would like to recommend the exhibition about the poet and anti-fascist from Lake Starnberg: until 19 May at the Starnberg Museum.
