Dear MRCler,
Dear rowing friends,
the club flag is flying at half-mast – our rowing friend Rüdiger Pazer died surprisingly at the age of 86. Below is an obituary by Hubert Friedmann. Our sympathy goes out to all relatives and friends.
In the meantime, the minutes and documents of the Annual General Meeting are on the internal homepage for your inspection.
We also report on changes in the logbook and the successful flea market last week.
Unfortunately, no one was found to organize the summer party. So we have to cancel it.
But there will be an extended programme on Saturday on the kilometre day with yoga, delicious paella, good musi and a film preview from the BR about the MRC boathouse - there will be many more!
Many greetings
Your board of directors

Logbook and Obleute
Change in logbook and boat distribution
Our goal is to ensure that all members have a good and suitable boat park at their disposal. We have revised the layout of our boat park. The new classification can be found below and as usual also printed next to the logbooks. Therefore, changes in the logbook and in the categorization of our boats were necessary.
We have intensively looked at your individual rowing experience and boat usage over the past 5 years. Some boats we have blocked for our large training team or those with a lot of experience. Most of our boats are available to all of you unchanged. In the past year, many of you have passed the training and the board examination. This contributes to our safety on the lake and to the preservation of our very good boat parks. We have now entered the passed exam in the logbook.
We want a chairwoman or a chairwoman to sit in every boat from now on. Please make sure you plan the teams accordingly.
There will also soon be an appointment for further Obleutetrainingen.
You may have noticed that we switched off the partly outdated pop-ups from the past in the logbook in autumn. These are now updated. There are two changes that you should consider:
- Hints that you are not using a particular boat because it is reserved for a different user group
- Indications that no chairwoman or chairman is in the boat and therefore please do not go on the water in this crew
We have put a lot of effort into incorporating these changes into the system. Surely we made mistakes. So if you notice something, please feel free to contact me (frank.salzmann@mrc1880.de)

New SEPA mandate
Please remember to fill out the new SEPA form and return it to Birgit (birgit.hassler@mrc1880.de). You should have received an email about this on 06.06.2026.
Here are three simple steps you can follow to send us the new SEPA mandate:
- Download SEPA Mandate from the website: https://www.mrc1880.de/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2026-06-SEPA-Mandat-V1.pdf
For members who prefer to fill out the application on paper, there are a few printed, unfilled forms to take away at the Clubhaus am Schwarzen Brett. - Fill in the form - digitally or by hand on a printed copy
- Return form – either by email to Birgit, upload via special link (www.mrc1880.de/aenderungsmeldung-sepa-mandat/), or by post to the MRC.
Thank you for your help!
From house & yard: Windows, flowers, logistics
Close the window!
Actually, the changing room in the attic is no longer to be used. Some do. Please be aware that very few men still use this changing room and please close all windows when you leave. No one else notices that in severe weather there are windows open and it rains pure. Only the gable windows of the changing room may remain open, and these may only be ‘tilted’.
Please water!
The hot season starts. If you find it too warm, our plants will find it especially the new plantings and above all the three new trees. Please grab a hose or watering can and water it. Better once too much than once too little. Casting plans hang on the door to the ladies’ house ‘chamber’ and on the black board.
Thank you very much!
logistic
Our logistics team is working hard on interim solutions for the refurbishment in order to secure our furniture and to enable rowing as much as possible during the refurbishment. Be ready when you need your help soon.
Please also slowly remove all things that you store privately in and at the club (between) if they are not in your lockers. This applies to all areas of houses and grounds. We now need all available space. Unfortunately, this will also affect the deckchair shed. Please note that according to current planning by the end of August at the latest – unfortunately in the most beautiful summer time – must take the loungers home. Storage elsewhere on the premises is not possible.

Obituary of Rüdiger Pazer
Our rowing friend Rüdiger died suddenly.
Here is Hubert's obituary:
The funeral service is on July 3, 2026 at 10:00 in Starnberg in the Aussegnungshalle at the cemetery.

Lively flea market in the MRC1880

Our flea market was not only a huge success, but also great fun. Family Kühlein and Kristine Teuber have organized everything as a general staff and decorated it super. At eleven stalls, MRC attic treasures, such as old paintings, gifts, tools and kilos of screws, were ‘decorated’, and at private stalls, various flea market items, such as books, records, dishes, dresses and lots of teddy bears.
Stefan Holz and his Würmtal wind music provided the great atmosphere. They not only attracted passers-by, but also encouraged our guests to sing along.
Kathrin Falke has taken care of the physical well-being of the musicians. And there were delicious waffles and cakes for our guests.
The history team led through the house every half hour. Perhaps there are still donations to the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz DSD.
In the end, at least 3000 € which were transferred to our donation account of the DSD. Many thanks to all helpers and organizers.
Kilometre day and BR TV contribution
On Saturday, the kilometre day organized by Paul Vignau takes place. The samba drummers will come back and 10.15 to around 11 a.m. Playing for us. Claudia takes over the kitchen: From 11.30 there is a large paella pan fresh from the gas grill with everything that goes with it, as well as liver cheese with potato salad for the traditionalists and stuffed peppers with salad for those who prefer something vegetarian. It would be nice if many come, stay and bring hunger and good mood! Yoga on the jetty with Theda will take place at 11 a.m.
Another highlight is the BR film about the MRC boathouse, see below. Entertainment is provided throughout the day!
Sports clubs and their monument - The MRC on TV
On 21.06. at 19:15, the second film contribution, which was shot last year at the MRC, will be broadcast on the Bavarian Radio. This time it's really about us. For the kilometre day on 20.06. there is a joint preview with us at the MRC. Stars include Dietrich Falke, Ulrike Mertz and Rolf Schuh.
Broadcasting around 12:30, and thereafter as needed.
Rowing against cancer
The Rowing Against Cancer team needs you to train rowing newcomers for the benefit regatta Rowing Against Cancer on 26 July 2026!
For the next 6 weeks we are still desperately looking for people who have the desire and time to support us as a trainer. If you are interested, please contact muenchen@rudern-gegen-krebs.de In the words "Together against cancer!" and we will get back to you immediately with further details!
The best thing about it? Not only will you help beginners learn the right technique and get them excited about rowing, but you will also support them with your commitment. Fight against cancer!
What you should bring:
- Sufficient experience in rowing – you should have already spent a few years in the rowing boat so that the beginners can benefit from your know-how.
- Motivation to help others – you are motivated to give beginners the opportunity to start rowing. The whole thing is voluntary, but don't worry, we won't let you go completely empty: Each training session (90 minutes each) is remunerated with 20 €!
- Time for at least two training sessions of 90 minutes each (more inclined) in the next 6 weeks on the Olympic regatta track in Oberschleißheim (or alternaitv also on Lake Starnberg) for rowing newcomers. Of course, we coordinate the exact times with you and the beginners.
And most importantly: Every support counts! Together, you can help ensure that rowing against cancer can once again take place in Munich this year!
So, Let’s go, rowing against cancer!
Best regards,
Your team Rowing against cancer Munich

Donations
Clear the way – our common course towards the future
Your donation – small or large – brings us closer to the goal of renovating our beautiful, venerable boathouse. Every contribution counts. Each euro shows: We are pulling together – as if in a boat. For our planning, we assume that each member contributes an average of €1,000 – also in partial amounts or staggered over the entire construction period. This is how we manage to get our century project on track together.
Donations will, of course, Donation receipts issued. You're there right now? Then let's go!
So that you know exactly where your money is going, we offer you two possibilities to bring your donation directly to the water:
Our recommendation: Donation to the German Foundation for the Protection of Monuments (DSD)
Why? Donations to the DSD benefit our MRC boathouse: and the best: Every euro donated is doubled by a generous sponsor! Therefore, this is our preferred path.

- IBAN: DE71 500 400 500 400 500 400

Alternative: Direct donation to the MRC
