Again this year we want to keep it ‘small’ and ‘compact’: There will be three blocks for races:
- A small and medium boat block
- A large boat block
- A block for couples 2-.
The start will be between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., so depending on the number of participants, the races should be finished in the early afternoon. An exact call for tenders can be found here:
In essence, little has changed compared to recent years.
Many greetings

Safety on the water in unexpectedly changing wind conditions
Again and again the lake invites you to an enjoyable ride in the best conditions. But then the wind and water conditions deteriorate, without prior notice. Recently we had on Saturday (20.7.) again such a case. There was no storm warning. All boats went to sea as planned, but soon some crews realized that they were no longer safe. Some trips were cancelled and partly continued in other boats with shortened distance. Others pursued their goal and came back with some water in the boat, there was no more room for manoeuvre.
How do you make the necessary decisions to cancel a trip or to reverse it? However, the feeling of having to reach the set goal or fear of loss by a few kilometers in the rowing statistics should not lead to a risky continuation of a ride.
The chairperson is responsible and empowered to make decisions. However, the crew should also express their concerns under certain circumstances and not submit to a misunderstood discipline or group coercion. If in doubt, you better make your way back on a weather front and maybe drive another lap later. Should the weather pass, you are happy to have safely returned to the jetty even without DLRG rescue. Always a good feeling! (UK)
Regattas: Great success at championships on the Havel
Here is a report:
Save the date: New member event on 14 September

All other members are also cordially invited to take part in the rowing at 10 a.m. followed by lunch.
At noon there is important information for the newcomers about the club and safety issues in autumn and winter. Coffee and cake can be exchanged. All members are welcome here as well. More details will follow.
Question from Obleute training
On a trip towards Roseninsel: On which side you dodge when you come across a rowing boat:
A) Starboard
B) port
C) depending on the situation
That's right: A, all muscular power boats pass the port side of the other boat on encounters with the port side
