Ride into the blue on 3.10.-5.10.2025

The sky was as blue as Hellmuth's mysterious journey. In the car we speculated at the latest on the A8 towards Nuremberg with the A and D words. In fact, we landed at the Regensburg rowing club on the D, where Stefan was already waiting with the bus to continue with us to Dietfurt on the A, where we were received by the rest of the troops. The 2 quad boats from the rowing club Altmühltal were already upset ready, and so we boarded with 9 participants and sack and pack. The Altmühl is called the Main-Danube Canal and flows leisurely through meadows and forests between impressive castles on high Jurafelsen. The first lock (for recreational boats) we mastered loosely by hand operation, the Ruderei remained relaxed until Essing. After a hearty dinner and a good night in the Dorfwirtshaus we left the next morning in drizzle rain in the direction of Kelheim and Saal, where the Altmühl flows into the Danube. Up to the RCR Regensburg it was about 30 km including an exciting treidel insert and a funny accommodation on the campsite in small wooden barrels. Unfortunately, bad weather with strong winds was announced on Sunday, so that the third stage of the tour on the Naab fell into the water. Instead, we strolled along the Danube to Regensburg, where the rain actually caught up with us.
