Newsletter June 2024 (2)

Dear MRCler,
Dear rowing friends,

it goes on with full steam into the summer rowing season:
A highlight of the year is the MRC 1880 kilometre day, and the Munich8 once again invite you to the barbecue party.

We also report on previously announced changes to the Board of Management.

Your board of directors

Kilometre day on 22 June 2024

All rowers of the MRC 1880 are invited to row as much as possible on this day. Each kilometre is part of the overall performance, and the winners are rewarded with the new MRC Hiking Cup with the appropriate engraving, which has been significantly larger, more coloured and equipped with a club logo since last year …

Even the best mileage estimate will be awarded again!

The Bistro 1880 will be open again during the day with delicious specialties.

As a special event, we are already expecting the samba band Drumadama with Vera Bub from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., which will heat us up with hot samba rhythms. Getting up early is worth it!

Together with Ulf Hallmann's Obleutetraining on the same day, this is one more reason to come to Starnberg to experience a sociable, sporty and educational day.

With rudersports greetings
Paul Vignau with
Reinhard Niejodek, Julia Devlin, Vera Bub, and Marion Kratzmeier

Invitation of Munich8 to barbecue on 29 June 2024

Dear rowing friends,
Munich8 will return to Henley.
Therefore, after the full success last year, we invite you to barbecue again to get to know us and learn more about our team.
When?  29 June from 11 a.m.
Where?      Starnberg
What?    Bratwurst, beer and other delicacies

If possible, please register by June 27th. link (external link).

In addition, the Clubhaus in Starnberg and Hall 16 in Oberschleißheim will offer the opportunity to register in paper form.

We are currently in the peak phase of this year's regatta season of the Munich8, the club team for the senior section of the MRC 1880. After a successful long-distance season in winter, a fourth place in the A-final of the prestigious Prague Eighth Regatta followed.
As a final preparation for our season highlight, the Henley Royal Regatta, we will start at the international regatta in Bled on the weekend of 14.-16.6. Our training group has now grown to such an extent that we can already launch two MRC guards in Prague and again in Bled!

In addition, fortunately, a women's Munich8 is currently forming. In addition to Henley, a second highlight of the season will be the participation in the German Grand Boat / University Championships in Brandenburg with the entire team.

We are looking forward to numerous registrations and any support. We are also very grateful for every little help in compensating the expenses for our national and international launches (boat rental, accommodation, travel).

Thank you for your support
Your Munich8

Newsletter Editor's Note:
Barbecuing takes place on the meadow, next to the repair day of the house and yard team. Please come on both occasions!

Stefan Spindler takes over as Chief Financial Officer

The Executive Board has decided to appoint Stefan Spindler as acting Chief Financial Officer. He takes over the office of Lucas Artmann, who has resigned for private reasons, but continues to supervise financial matters during the transitional period. Many thanks to Lucas for this, as well as for his work on the board since last year.

Stefan has been a member of the MRC 1880 since October 2023 and has rowed previously in Bonn and Friedrichshafen. As a mechanical engineer, he has worked in several industrial companies, most recently as CEO Industrial at Schaeffler.
“Having recently completed my active professional life, I am very happy to be involved in the further development and management of the MRC 1880. I look forward to an open exchange and constructive cooperation with all members of the association", says Stefan.

We wish Stefan Spindler every success in the new task.

Intensive discussions are already taking place on the succession to the Sport portfolio – we will report on this.
