After the highlight of the season for juniors and children, it was time for the highest Bavarian regatta. In addition to the younger athletes, the experienced seniors and masters were also on site on the regatta track in Oberschleißheim – which was also the perfect rehearsal for the upcoming Euro Masters Regatta in Munich next weekend for the latter. In addition to a good common barbecue and defying the moody weather, there was of course one thing above all: Damn good races!
Our women started in the Masters One in the very first race of the day. In an exciting duel it went straight to the canned, whereby both Franziska Zimmermann (MRSV) and Ann-Kathrin Krutsch (MRC) had to give up after a strong fight. But the response of the Starnberg training group was not long in coming: Directly afterwards, Friedrich Arlt and Felix Schroeder (both MRC) were the first to push the bowball over the finish line in a sovereign racing community in the Junior B-Eight. In addition to the first win of the day for the RC Starnberg, it was also the very first Bavarian championship title ever for the two of them!
Concentrated power in the offspring: B-juniors dominate and convince by breadth
What followed was an impressive demonstration of our first-class junior work. Especially our B-juniors (U17) from the MRSV put their stamp on the regatta: Lara-Sophie Boeltzig, Sara Hauenstein, Marielena Keßel and Mathilda Auras were undisputed Bavarian champions in the controlled double four, with Veronika Scheiner at the wheel. Mathilda Auras and Marielena Keßel also triumphed in their one-competitions, while Veronika Scheiner and Sara Hauenstein climbed to the top of the podium in the lightweight doubles. To crown it, Lara-Sophie Boeltzig and Veronika Scheiner gilded their sensational weekend as part of the victorious Junior B-Eight.
However, the other boats also showed how extremely wide and strong this age group is set up with us: Felizia Schubert rowed together with Sara Hauenstein to an excellent silver rank in doubles, and Felizia Schubert, Ida Christner and Anastasia Baenkler won the strong Bavarian runner-up title, precisely on the ropes led by taxwoman Freya Kirmeier, also in the big junior B-eight. In addition, our B-juniors around Sebastian Weiß, Friedrich Roth and Jona Schwabe in double four with helmswoman Ida Christner as well as in single and mixed double four in the heavily occupied field of participants courageously collected important regatta experiences and showed great races.
A-juniors with physical strength at the top of the country
The fact that the A-juniors (U19) of the MRC also belong physically and technically to the absolute top of the country, they impressively demonstrated: Max Seebacher and Elias Krauthause dominated the junior double A and earned the gold medal. Jakob Kretzschmar and Albert Otto Heinrich also secured the Bavarian title in the four-man without a helmsman and also drove in the two-man without a strong second place. Our team led by Jonas Fischbach, Elias Krauthause, Jakob Kretzschmar, Felix Schroeder, Max Seebacher and Justus Kondziella reached a thrilling lash-strike final in the big junior eight A and won the silver medal just behind.
The children's class inspires with talent and ambition
Even the youngest of our training group showed that Lake Starnberg can be fully expected in the future. With the 12- and 13-year-old children, Carlo Baumgartner, Alois Ortenburg, Leon Brieger and Frederik Storm, precisely controlled on the ropes by Stella Frieg (MRC), gave the entire competition in the boys' double fours no chance and rowed confidently to gold. Carlo and Frederik went straight for a silver medal in doubles. Our strong girls' training group from the MRSV provided additional cheer: Jordis Echternach, Felicitas Stuchtey, Isabella Pook and Ellen Dmoch delivered a technically clean race in the double four of the 13- and 14-year-olds and were allowed to hang the gold medal on the winning bridge highly deserved.
Other great podium places, such as the silver medals of Anton Nepomuk Wagner, Leo Schröder, Florentin Hingst, Paul Gundel and helmswoman Stella Frieg in the older boys' double-four or Maximilian Röhrig and Vincenz Kondziella in the lightweight double-two, showed the great class of the MRC junior. Even those of our youngest, for whom it was not quite enough for a medal in the hard-fought finals this time, grew beyond themselves: For example, Hugo Wolschner in the lightweight doubles of the 12- and 13-year-olds as well as Vincent Moritz Petri gained invaluable competition experience on this large stage during his courageous assignment in the boys' doubles. They all showed how much potential there is in our training group!
Masters rehearsal succeeds impressively
The Masters faction proved in the week before the Euromasters Regatta that not only the youngsters shine, but also the experienced in the boat make a good pace. With an impressive number of strokes, they won numerous titles in various boat classes, from the one to the double-two and double-four to the eighth. It was a one-two victory in the MM 1x D for Stefan Hamels ahead of Nicolas Kretschmann. Wolfgang Jakobi held up the MRC flag in the MM 1x J. In the MM 2x E, Nicolas Kretschmann / Jürgen Schüppel again achieved a double victory ahead of Frank Salzmann/Harald Spatz. In the MM 4x, we achieved confident victories in both age group C and E. Both teams with Holger Gerhard, Stefan Hamels, Jörg Wiese, Jan Weiss and Nicolas Kretschmann, Florian Aichinger, Christian Salmen and Jürgen Schüppel each won with more than 2 lengths of lead in the full fields. In order not to beat each other again, Henrik Loth, Nicolas Kretschmann, Stefan Hamels, Holger Gerhard, Ole Brauer and Frank Salzmann were racing together with Olaf Klein, Jan Weiss and Anna Heyl in the MM 8+ E and became Bavarian champions after a hard board fight in the full field.
In the MW 8+ two boats started in MRC colors. Unfortunately, it did not manage to get to the top of the podium. The MW8+ D with Isabel Kampffmeyer, Allison Müller, Audrey Delphendahl, Ingegerd Walz, Beate Eisenblätter, Birgit Hassler, Imke Salzmann, Friederike Winter was driven by taxwoman Constanze Fux, however, so that they drove away the Aschaffenburgerinnen, who were often significantly superior in recent years, and drove the Würzburg/RGM/MRSV racing community with less than half a boat length ahead of them.

A strong conclusion
At the end of this intense regatta weekend there is an excellent record: We are more than satisfied as a training group of RC Starnberg (MRC/MRSV)! With a total of 19 victories, we presented ourselves in absolute top form. This makes us the second strongest training group in Bavaria after the medal table – only beaten by the RGM 72, which ran the competitions on domestic water in Oberschleißheim. With this strong tailwind, we are now looking proudly at our athletes and full of anticipation for the upcoming tasks!
