Our Winnie has passed away. After a prolonged illness, he died at the age of 89 on February 1, 2026.
In the eighties and nineties he was one of the most active and successful Masters rowers of the MRC 1880. In addition to his profession as a language teacher at the Goethe-Institut, sport was the meaning of his life for him. Wherever he has been in the world, in Passau, Zagreb, Shanghai or Munich, he has worked intensively and rowed everywhere. And everywhere he had good friends who greatly appreciated his obligatory, comradely and nice manner.
With us in the eighties and nineties we rode with him in fours without, in eights and especially in double fours many regattas and above all had a lot of fun with the inevitable training kilometers.
We will remember our comrade Winnie well.
