Spring cleaning and rowing 2025

The spring cleaning was as always busy, sociable and productive and brought our terrain to a high gloss. Thanks to all the helpers!
The rowing season opened on April 6 with our traditional rowing and a solemn boat baptism. A total of six new boats are now reinforcing our fleet, including a new racing yacht named ‘King Ludwig’.
King Ludwig III was patron of the MRC1880 during the founding years. Therefore, none other than Prince Leopold of Bavaria took over the baptismal sponsorship for the boat.
Other boats were inaugurated for youth and safety training. After the christening ceremony, which was accompanied by an ink of ‘Würmtaler Blasmusik’, Prince Leopold joined Andi Fischbach and Frank Salzmann in the motorboat. All boats met on the water, where a small show race with the Munich 8 took place.

After the sporty ride, the rowing festival continued in the best weather, with music and Bavarian delicacies by Markus Reitner on the terrace and in the hall for a long time.
It was a great start to the new season, a thousand thanks to the organizers, supporters and helpers!

What about the recovery plans?
First of all, we as the board would like to thank you for the many exciting, creative, sometimes critical and sometimes brilliant suggestions that have reached us about the various participation possibilities of the members (workshops, note boxes, house tours, discussion rounds, zoom). It was really fun with you! We have logged all your helpful thoughts and will incorporate them into the planning if possible.
Already at the Annual General Meeting some of your suggestions were to be found in the presentation of Mr. Sünder-Plassmann. According to your feedback, variants B and C were combined. Accordingly, the apartment would remain in the EC and in the 1. A kitchen/bar would be installed on the upper floor. The entrance door would open to the outside, which would allow the door to the kiosk to be installed in a more favorable place. This combined variant presented at the JHV by Mr. Sünder-Plassmann now serves as the basis for the following plans. Further suggestions from you will now be taken into account and incorporated as far as possible.
We will present the presentation of the renovation plans as well as your suggestions in the internal area of the homepage, so that you can get a picture of the collected feedback for yourself. Of course, not every proposal can be implemented. We are therefore also preparing a list of ideas that had to be rejected for various reasons, including the justification. Both will be prepared in the internal section of the homepage by the end of June.
We would also like to thank all those who have entered the volunteer list on the JHV or by e-mail and want to support us on various topics. We will contact you shortly.
In the meantime, two other topics have arisen for which we need your expertise: Electrical planning and TGA planning (technical building equipment). If you have expertise in these areas and would like to work, please contact stefanie.monecke@mrc1880.de
Here you can see how the local press presents our refurbishment plans: https://www.merkur.de/lokales/starnberg/starnberg-ort29487/neues-gesicht-fuer-aeltestes-ruderclubhaus-deutschlands-am-starnberger-see-93685750.html
Of plants and bees
Spring is here and the water needs of our plants are growing. Please help everyone and water our 3 new trees around the ladies house in long drought or heat. Also the two oleanders at the entrance, as well as the other pots in the entrance area and in front of the boat hall need water, and of course our wildflower meadow! A hose trolley to extend the existing hoses is available.
Our sand bee people are back and encircling the sandpit. The bees are peaceful and do not sting (almost). They will be back in July. Then the children can recapture the sandbox.
